A short drive from SuanGlangNa is a collection of rural mountain attractions that should not be missed.  This route can easily be accomplished in a half day.

Wat Phra That Cho Hae

Shortly after leaving SuanGlangNa you will turn right on Route 1024 after passing through  the village of Suan Khuean you arrive at a T intersection, turn left on Route 1101 and great views to the East across rice fields and up to the mountains and Doi Chang Pa Daeng.  In 3 KM you will arrive at the village of Cho Hae, turn left on Route 1022 and the entrance to the Wat will  be visible.   Built in the Sukhothai period, Wat Phra That Cho Hae is a major religious and perhaps the most sacred Buddhism site of Phrae. 

Mountain Top Temple - Wat Doi Leng

After leaving the temple turn right and continue east on Route 1022.  In 2 KM take a road that forks to the right and crosses a bridge.  This road passes a couple of restaurants in its 2.5 KM climb to the parking area below Wat Phra That Doi Leng.  The stair climb  is well worth the effort.  The temple complex offers great views to the west over the Wat Cho Hae complex to the city of Phrae and fabulous mountain views to the east.  There is also a charming temple building.

Waterfall - Cheong Thong

After your visit to Wat Doi Leng return to Route 1022, turn right and continue your climb up the stream valley for 9 KM to a drive that forks to the right just before a bridge.  You will see the sign for Cheong Thong Waterfall in both English and Thai in the distance.  There is a short 150 meter walk to the first falls and you can continue another 500 meters to 2 more sets of falls.

Lunch on the River - Hommaekorn

After leaving the falls turn left and return down the valley 4.5 KM to Hommaekorn on your left. This riverside cafe is a fun place to enjoy lunch, a coffee or dessert.
